Snowbird walked into the Decker Room and looked around. It was time for
their annual Christmas party and she had volunteered to do the decorations
for the party. She began walking around the room and taking measurements of
everything.
“Snow? What are you doing here?” Max asked looking up at her from his
desk, finally noticing her presence.
“Taking measurements for decorations for the Christmas party.” She said
simply, not bothering to look at him.
“Aren’t we having the party at Duke’s place like we usually do?” Gunmax
said looking at her confused.
“We can’t this year, Angel decided to redecorate the party room.” Duke
said looking at Gunmax blankly.
“Then we can have it at Deckerd’s place.” PowerJoe said grinning. “That
place is always good for a party.”
“Not enough room.” Came Deckerd’s reply.
“Oh come on, there aren’t that many of us.” PowerJoe said rolling his
optics at him.
“There’s all of us, plus our kids and their kids, so no, there’s not
enough room.” Deckerd said flatly.
“Then we’ll have it at Buck’s place.” Gunmax said with a shrug, leaning
back in his chair.
“Sorry, the kids are making a huge mess of the place. Not to mention
Gem’s dog is ripping up the furniture.” Buckshot said with a sigh.
“Dang, you need to get control of that femme Buck, it sounds like she
isn’t training the kids, or the dog, right.” Gunmax said giving him a
look that meant ‘Are you serious?’.
“She’s been gone a lot, so she doesn’t really have time to take care
of certain things.” Buckshot said shrugging.
“Guys, we’re discussing Christmas, Not Buck and Gem’s personal life.”
Snowbird said folding her arms over her chest.
“To which, you shouldn’t be here right now, not in your condition.”
Max said sounding concerned. “you could hurt yourself, not to mention the
sparkling.” He added nodding to the huge bulge in Snow’s midsection.
“Yeah Snow, you look like you’re ready to pop.” PowerJoe said. Deckerd
then got up from his desk and took the tape-measure from Snow’s hands.
“Sit, I’ll take care of it.” He said before getting to work. Snowbird
didn’t say a word and sat on Max’s desk with her arms folded over her chest.
“You two still not talking?” Max asked concerned.
“Does it matter?” Snowbird asked sounding a little upset.
“He’s your father and it’s been five years since that incident, don’t
you think it’s time to patch things up with him?” Max asked softly.
  “I don’t know… I just…” Snowbird said before getting up, shaking off
she said. “Can you bring me the measurements home with you when he’s done
Max? I need to get the decorations together.”
“I can do that Snow.” Max said, sighing.
“Thanks hun.” She said before walking out…

Deckerd walked in the door that night and flopped back on the couch.
Today had been a wreck. First, all the paper work for their recent cases
were all screwed up, then Snow comes in and still wouldn’t talk to him.
He didn’t know what to do about her. It had been five years and she still
wouldn’t even look at him. Where had he gone wrong? What could he do to
fix it?
“You look tired, have a rough day?” came a voice that ripped him from
his thoughts. He looked up to see Aquarius smiling at him from near the
tree.
“Yeah… Snow came in today and she still seems really mad at me…” He said
with a sigh.
“Give her some time, I’m sure she’ll come around.” Aquarius said turning
to the tree to finish decorating.
“I hope so, I miss talking to my little girl.” Deckerd said before getting
up. “Need any help?” He then asked walking over to the tree.
“Yeah, could you put the star up for me, I can’t quite reach.” She said
handing him the star.
“Of course dear.” He said putting the star on the top…

Snowbird stepped back from the tree in the Decker Room and smiled.
Everything was perfect. All the decorations were up and exactly the way
she had planned it. Now, all she had to do was wait for the quests to
arrive and enjoy the festivities.
“Wow Snow, it looks great in here.”
Snowbird turned around and smiled big. “Orion! You made it!” She
yelled happily, running up to hug him. Orion nearly fell backwards
from the force of Snowbird’s hug.
“Of course I made it sis. I wouldn’t miss a Christmas celebration
with the gang for anything.” He said chuckling a bit.
“But I thought there were issues on Velocitron that you needed to
help the Elite Guard solve.” She said looking up at him curiously.
“I managed to get off on leave for Christmas.” He said with a shrug.
A loud giggle from the doorway caused them both to look over to see
who was there. Standing in the doorway, MoonGem was standing there
with the biggest grin on her face.
“You two look absolutely ridiculous.” MoonGem said with a giggle.
“Funny Gem, now come here and get your hug.” Snowbird said holding
her arms out with a devilish grin. MoonGem’s grin quickly faded and
she started backing up a little.
“No, I hate hugs.” She said flatly.
“Fine, don’t show me your affection.” Snowbird said turning away
with a fake pout.
“Snow, don’t.” MoonGem said walking into the room and looking
around. “Nice decorations by the way.”
“Thanks sis.” Snowbird said excitedly. “Do you really like them?”
“Yes I do. In all the places I’ve been in the past few years. I
love seeing your decorations for parties.” MoonGem said smiling.
“Thanks!” Snowbird said with a huge grin on her face.
After a while, all the guests had arrived and were having a good
time. In the midst of the celebration Aquarius saw a femme walk in
with three young sparklings and quickly went to greet her.
“Hi Anastasia, how are you doing?” She said smiling.
“I’m doing alright. How are you doing?” Anastasia said with a
thick Russian accent.
“I’m great. Where’s Nightstalker? I thought he was coming.” Aquarius
asked looking around for him.
“He had to make a stop first.” Anastasia said looking around. She
then looked a little sad. “He wanted to wish her a Merry Christmas.”
“I understand that.” Aquarius said nodding in understanding. “I
still can’t believe she’s gone. It’s been about three years, hasn’t it?”
Anastasia nodded. Just then a cry bounced around the room. Aquarius
quickly ran over to check it out. She found the source of the noise to
be Snowbird hunched over the buffet table grasping her belly.
“Max, what happened?” Aquarius asked concerned.
“I think she just went into labor.” Max said in almost a panicky voice.
Aquarius quickly flagged Angel down and they carried her out of the room
and down to a room down the hall with Max close behind.
The room was silent for quite a while before Duke cleared his throat
and said loudly.
“How about everyone get’s together and makes a little gift for Max and
Snowbird and their new sparkling?”
“Yeah, but what?” Gunmax asked with a confused look.
“Maybe have all the kids make nice Christmas cards and the adults help
them?” MoonGem suggested.
“I can get the supplies we need.” Bluejay said with a shrug.
“Us guys are gonna have a drawing to see who can guess the name of the
kid when it gets here.” Dumpson said smiling. “Whoever wins gets a case
of high-grade.”
“You guys do whatever, I’m gonna help Bluejay with the kids.” MoonGem
said before walking out with Bluejay and every kid.
An hour later Aquarius came into the room with a small bundle in her
arms. She walked up to everyone and said.
“Say hello to Max and Snow’s new son.”
Everyone gathered round and looked at the little tike. He was
bluish-green with white protoform and bright orange optics. He also
had a police like hat on his helm, a lot like Deckerd’s.
“You know, if I didn’t know any better…. I’d say he looked like
Deckerd and Gunmax had a kid together…” Drillboy said looking closely
at the young mechling. Deckerd and Gunmax both went stiff at that comment
before Deckerd walked up.
“May I hold him?” He asked.
“Of course.” Aquarius said handing the young mechling to him. Deckerd
took him and held him close.
“Did they name him yet?” He asked.
Aquarius nodded. “they named him Sampson.” She said smiling. Deckerd
looked down at Sampson a little sadly. Sampson looked up at him curiously
as if to say ‘why are you so sad?’. Deckerd handed him back to Aquarius
after a couple minutes and walked out of the room.
“What’s wrong with him?” PowerJoe asked confused.
“Sampson was what Snowbird was going to name her first son when she
was fifteen, you know, the one that was aborted.” Aquarius said sadly.
“Oh… well, why wait till her third child to call him that? Helios
could have been called that.” PowerJoe said even more confused.
“Cause it hurt too much, now she’s over it enough to be able to honor
her first son by naming this one after him.” Aquarius said softly.
“Man…. No wonder Deckerd was in a funk, he blames himself for that,
doesn’t he?” Gunmax said shaking his head slowly.
“Yes.” Aquarius said with a nod.

Deckerd stepped out into the snow and sat leaning up against the
building. He sat there for the longest time before he felt someone sit
next to him and lean against his arm.
“I… owe you an apology…” Came a soft feminine voice from.
“No, I’m the one who should apologize Snow. It’s all my fault…”
Deckerd said staring down at the ground. Snowbird sat up and lifted
his face to hers.
“Daddy, let’s just forget about what happened and move on. I don’t
want another Christmas to go by with us mad at each other. I miss talking
to my daddy. I miss hugging him.” Snowbird said tearing up a little.
“I want to be friends again….” Deckerd wrapped her into a hug and rocked
her gently.
“We will sweetie, we‘ll be best friends. But you gotta stop pushing me
away.” He said softly. Snowbird snuggled close to him.
“I will daddy, I’m done pushing you away.” She said in between sniffles.
She then backed up and smiled at him. “I love you daddy.”
“I love you too sweetie.” Deckerd said smiling. He then got up and
picked her up, pressing her up to his chest. “Now, if I don’t fall over
from how big you are, let’s get you back inside where it’s warm.”
“Okay daddy.” Snowbird said giggling. She then looked at him with a
smile. “Merry Christmas daddy.”
“Merry Christmas Snowbird.” Deckerd said sweetly. She snuggled close
as Deckerd slowly walked back inside with her. Today was the best Christmas
he had ever had.
